After looking at hundreds of comic book covers, it becomes quickly apparent that not every cover is 100% original. Whether done intentionally or even underhandedly, there’s something about uncovering these “swipes” that adds a new element of fun to reading and collecting comics.<\/font><\/p>\n

The Secret Invasion <\/em>tie-ins were filled with classic cover swipes. This cover takes its cue from the first appearance of Nick Fury <\/strong>as an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.<\/strong> For that matter, it’s also the first appearance of S.H.I.E.L.D. BUT, it’s not the first appearance of Nick Fury. He debuted in his Sgt. Fury <\/em> title (set during WWII) back in 1963.<\/p>\n
