Each Saturday, <a href=\"http:\/\/donny-b.deviantart.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Donny B<\/a> will be showcasing various offerings from Art Asylum&#8217;s take on the &#8216;block figure&#8217;, with a weekly spotlight on <em><strong>Minimates<\/strong><\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Everyone loves a good story where the hero gets the girl, right? But what if the hero you&#8217;re rooting for falls for a girl who is forbidden? In a modern day superhero homage to\u00a0Shakespearean tragedy, <em>Marvel Comics<\/em>\u00a0introduced readers everywhere to the quintessential star\u00a0crossed comic book couple; Gambit and Rogue.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Gambit<\/strong>: A Louisiana-bred ladies&#8217; man with the ability to charge objects (he favors playing cards) that explode on impact.\u00a0Since his introduction by <em>Chris Claremont<\/em> and <em>Jim Lee<\/em>\u00a0into the world of the\u00a0X-Men back in 1990, Gambit has cemented\u00a0his place\u00a0as a fan favorite hero.<br \/>\n<strong>Rogue<\/strong>: The X-Men&#8217;s southern belle, Rogue&#8217;s powers are her curse; she involuntarily absorbs the memories, physical strength, and\u00a0super powers\u00a0of anyone she touches. This potentially fatal power prevents her from making any physical contact with others, which creates a huge hurdle for her relationship with Gambit.<\/p>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1887\" src=\"http:\/\/cyberspacecomics.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/Minimates_2010_06-12.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"644\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cyberspacecomics.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/Minimates_2010_06-12.jpg 450w, https:\/\/cyberspacecomics.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/Minimates_2010_06-12-209x300.jpg 209w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #404040\"><strong>Behind the Image:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>In order to give Rogue the appearance of flying, I used a Minimate flight\u00a0stand, then I simply placed Gambit directly in front to cover it.
