Ebay has initiated strict photo rules, recently. As of July 1st, all pictures must be at least 500 pixels (on the longest side) and the first picture in a listing cannot be a stock photo. If a listing does not meet these requirements, it will not be able to be listed or re-listed. With this in mind, I expect the number of listings to continue to decline.

Ebay has put another nail in the coffin of the “auction listing”. Previously, they offered their regular users 50 free auction listings every month. As of April 16th, users can get 50 free listings in either the auction or fixed price format. Since auction ending prices have sharply decline in the past five years, many users will shift their 50 free listings to the fixed price format over the upcoming months.

EBay listings have increased because they offered an invite-only free listing promotion three weeks before Valentine’s Day.
