I started selling comics full-time in 2010 and wanted to track my progress against the online back issue markets. Here’s a look at the current comics aftermarket and my progress in achieving my goal of becoming a prominent back issue dealer.

eBay‘s number of listings continues to increase beyond the 10 million mark. It is interesting to note, though, that in the past 90 days, they’re showing that only about 15% of their items sold (vs the number of total listings). Another interesting figure is that their percentage of auctions has slipped below 3% of their listings. More and more sellers are finding out that the auction format is oftentimes a way to sell an item way below the market price.
Atomic Avenue: This marketplace now boasts a selection of over a quarter million different comics. That’s pretty impressive! This is a marketplace that flies under the radar. I’m thrilled to see that out of the quarter million comics available on this marketplace, over half of them are available from my store.
Comic Collector Live: This marketplace lost more than 15% of their sellers in the past year and lost over one third over the past five years.
HipComic: This marketplace has increased their number of listings by over 40% in the past year.
