I started selling comics full-time in 2010 and wanted to track my progress against the online back issue markets. Here’s a look at the current comics aftermarket and my progress in achieving my goal of becoming a prominent back issue dealer.

eBay‘s number of listings have recovered from the recent dip. They’re at near-record highs of listings. Unfortunately, I’m unable to access their “sold listings” information at a Category level (or even sub-category level) so I couldn’t provide that data this month.
Atomic Avenue: This marketplace’s number of listings has returned to a more normal state. Their number of unique comics continues to hit all-time highs.
Comic Collector Live: Their number of sellers is now at 42. When I first started tracking this information, they had over 100. This marketplace seems to be struggling to find any growth in their number of listings and in their number of sellers.
HipComic: This marketplace’s growth in listings is more reflective of the return of a large retailer (NK). This marketplace’s number of listings has grown by over 200% in just five years. Something of interest here is that HipComic has created an eBay selling account on October 29, 2024, that is beginning to mirror listings from the HipComic user “Mark”. They currently have 7,400 listings on eBay.
YouSellComics: This is a marketplace that has caught my eye so we’ve added our inventory to their marketplace. They’re showing very minor growth in their number of listings.
